Another Fine night in Europe😎

Karim Benzema scored a second-half hat-trick in just 16 minutes to inspire Real Madrid to a 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain to see his side through to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals 3-2 on aggregate.

Karim Benzema scored a second-half hat-trick in just 16 minutes to inspire Real Madrid to a 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain to see his side through to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals 3-2 on aggregate.

All the pre-match talk centered on PSG striker Kylian Mbappe's likely summer move to Real Madrid, and the Frenchman's first-half goal put PSG 1-0 up on the night and 2-0 ahead on aggregate.

However, on the hour mark, Benzema took advantage of an error from PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who made a complete mess of a ball at his feet to gift Madrid a way back into the tie.

15 minutes later, Benzema leveled the aggregate score after neat work from Vinicius Jr and Luka Modric, slamming home from the right-hand side of the area.

VAR checked to see the second goal was onside, and just 12 seconds after the restart Benzema completed his hat-trick after PSG gifted Madrid the ball from the kick-off, allowing Vinicius again to feed Benzema to net the decisive goal, reports Xinhua.

Benzema had been magnificent, but PSG only had themselves to blame for a series of disastrous errors when they looked to have the tie completely under control

Real Madrid, with Toni Kroos, who passed fit to play, started strongly, creating a couple of half-chances, but PSG were able to weather the storm and after 15 minutes they began to take control.

Neymar Jr saw a shot saved by Thibaut Courtois, and the attacking trio of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe began to combine well, although Donnarumma did well to tip away a curling effort from Benzema at the other end.

At the other end, Messi clipped the ball over Courtois, but it drifted just wide of the post, before Mbappe's low drive was correctly ruled out for a tight offside.

Benzema headed just wide and straight at Donnarumma before Mbappe put PSG ahead on the night after being set up by Neymar, who won a loose ball, before threading him through on goal. The French international then dummied Courtois, and will no doubt be delighted if he does join Real Madrid in the summer, which after the second half looks more likely than ever.

17. Edgar Davids

A fearsome midfielder, Davids’ best spell arguably came at Juventus, where he won three Serie A titles.

15. Phillip Lahm

Lahm was a dependable full-back who very rarely had a bad game.

14. Iker Casillas

Ronaldinho is arguably the most entertaining player of all-time. He possessed every trick in the book and always played the game with a smile on his face.

3. Lionel Messi

MESSI broke into Barcelona’s first-team in 2004 and wasn’t in his peak in the 2000s. Still, he begun to perform at an extraordinary level by the end of 2009 and is more than deserving of a spot on the podium.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

Like Messi Ronaldo wasn’t at his best until the 2010s. But he was already a Ballon d’Or winner and became the most expensive player ever when he signed for Real Madrid in a £80m move in 2009

  1. Ronaldo Nazario

Anyone that had the pleasure of watching Ronaldo play will tell you how good he was at his peak. Sadly, injuries meant his time at the very top wasn’t as long as it should have been, but he was still an incredible talent who had everything needed of a top class striker

Predicted Starting XI: Manchester United vs Aston Villa

Manchester United welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford tomorrow night as they kick off their FA Cup campaign. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has promised a strong team as he hopes to secure United's first piece of silverware since 2017, although he will have to navigate a way past Steven Gerrard's in-form team first.

The 1-0 defeat against Wolves last week sparked rumours of unrest within the squad, although Fred, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire have all publicly spoken about the matter over the past couple of days.

Dean Henderson could be given a rare start as David De Gea is given a rest whilst Phil Jones could retain his place in the back four after his impressive comeback last week.

Raphael Varane could be preferred ahead of Victor Lindelof with the fitness of Harry Maguire unknown.

Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles both started Rangnick's first couple of games before Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw regained their places!!

Star Pogba still away from full fitness

The France international has not played since November and remains several weeks away from a comeback.....

Paul Pogba is not expected to return to action for Manchester United until February, with the midfielder set to be sidelined for another weeks.

The 28-year-old has been out since November after suffering a groin injury on international duty with France.

After beginning his rehabilitation in Dubai, Pogba returned to the UK at the end of December, but boss Ralf Rangnick has warned he is still some way from a return to full training.

The bigger picture

Pogba has entered the final six months of his contract at Old Trafford and is now able to discuss terms with foreign clubs over a free transfer at the end of the season.

He has not played for United since November 2 and has only made seven Premier League starts this season.
