Who Is Cristiano Ronaldo?

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a Portuguese soccer superstar. By 2003 — when he was just 16 years old — Manchester United paid £12 million (over $14 million U.S. dollars) to sign him, a record fee for a player of his age.

In the 2004 FA Cup final, Ronaldo scored Manchester's first three goals and helped them capture the championship. He set a franchise record for goals scored in 2008, before Real Madrid paid a record $131 million for his services the following year.

Among his many accomplishments, he has won a record-tying five Ballon d'Or awards for player of the year, and led Portugal to an emotional victory in the 2016 European Championship. In July 2018, Ronaldo embarked on a new phase of his career by signing with Italian Serie A club Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Teams Ronaldo had turned heads with a mesmerizing performance with Portugal against Manchester, wowing even his opponents with his footwork and deft skill. He made such an impression that a number of United players asked their manager to try and sign the young player, which the team soon did.

Ronaldo did not disappoint the soccer world: He showed his promise early on in the 2004 FA Cup final, scoring the team's first three goals and helping them capture the championship. In 2007, Ronaldo signed a five-year, £31 million contract.

A year later, Ronaldo again justified his high salary when he put together one of the club's finest seasons in history, setting a franchise record for goals scored (42), and earning himself the FIFA World Player of the Year honor for 2008. In all, Ronaldo helped steer Manchester United to three premier league titles.

REAL MADRID

In 2009, the Spanish soccer club Real Madrid agreed to pay Manchester United a record $131 million for the chance to sign Ronaldo. Ronaldo’s commitment to Manchester United had come under constant question, and speculation swirled that he wanted to play elsewhere, so nobody was all that surprised to see Ronaldo leave.

"I know that they are going to demand a lot of me to be successful at the club and I know that I'm going to have much more pressure than at Manchester United because I was there for many years," Ronaldo told reporters. "But it means a new challenge and is going to help me be the best footballer."

Ronaldo went on to compile an impressive list of individual honors and team trophies. In December 2016, he won his fourth Ballon d'Or award as the sport's player of the year, beating out FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo’s 2016 wins included the European Championship, Champions League and Club World Cup, plus individual awards from UEFA and France Football magazine. The following year, he claimed a fifth Ballon d'Or to tie the mark held by his longtime rival, Messi.

JUVENTUS

After dropping hints that his time with Real was coming to an end, Ronaldo confirmed the rumors in July 2018 by signing with Italian Serie A club Juventus, which paid a $140 million transfer fee to his old Spanish club.

Ronaldo paid tribute to Real fans in an open letter on the club's website, writing: "These years at Real Madrid and in this city of Madrid have quite possibly been the happiest years of my life. I only have feelings of great gratitude to this club, to the fans and to the city. I can only give thanks to all of them for the love and affection that I have received."

By most measures, Ronaldo's debut season with Juventus was a successful one. He scored 10 times in his first 14 games, and headed home the lone goal in a win over AC Milan for the Supercoppa Italiana trophy. After leading his club to its eighth consecutive Serie A title, he was named the league's MVP in May 2019.

PORTUGAL

On July 10, 2016, Ronaldo added an emotional victory to his collection. As his national team's captain, Ronaldo led Portugal to the European Championship final against France.

Although he was sidelined after suffering a knee injury 25 minutes into the match, Portugal went on to win the championship title 1-0, their first international trophy. Ronaldo's teammates said that he motivated them as team captain from the sidelines.

Ronaldo got off to a tremendous start at the 2018 World Cup, blasting home three goals in an opening draw vs. Spain, before adding another vs. Morocco to set a European record with his 85th international goal.

However, he was held scoreless in a 2-1 loss to Uruguay in the knockout stage, after which he declined to comment on his future with the national team.

CRISTIANO RONALDO DOUBLE SCORE JUVENTUS WIN OVER INTER MILAN IN COPPA ITALIA 2-1

A Cristiano Ronaldo double helped Juventus secure a 2-1 victory over Inter in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg. Cristiano Ronaldo proved to be the difference again as he scored a penalty and then took advantage of a defensive mixup from Inter to secure a vital first leg lead.

Things started promisingly for Antonio Conte's side as Lautaro Martinez gave Inter the lead after some good work from Alexis Sanchez and Nico Barella. However, Juventus slowly started to work their way into the match and they were awarded a penalty after a VAR check in the 26th minute.Cristiano Ronaldo made no mistake from the spot to level things

Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo praised his side's reaction after going behind:

“We weren’t ourselves against Inter in the league, that was a slip-up, but it was also a valuable lesson and we worked on the mistakes that were made in that game.
“This is just the first leg, we haven’t achieved anything yet. What this does prove is that if we are fully concentrated, it becomes difficult for anyone against us. We know our strength.
“It’s not easy to maintain this intensity when playing practically every day. I saw a great reaction after going behind.”

Cristiano Ronaldo was taken off in the 77th minute after his wonderful brace and looked displeased with the decision. However, Andrea Pirlo defended it and praised his Juventus squad as a 'squad full of champions':

“I understand that Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t happy at being substituted, but it was only right to rest him for the upcoming Serie A game, even if just a few minutes. He could not have answered his critics in a better way than he did tonight.
“We have a squad full of champions and must make the most of that.”

Manchester United equal record PL win with nine-goal on Southampton !!!!

Ole Gunnar men saw seven different players score on Tuesday as they put Saints to the sword at Old Trafford .......

Manchester United matched a Premier League record for the largest margin of victory in the competition's history with their 9-0 destruction of Southampton on Tuesday.

The match at Old Trafford got off to the worst possible start for Saints, who saw Alexandre Jankewitz shown a straight red card for a nasty challenge on Scott McTominay just two minutes in.

Jankewitz became the first player to be sent off on his first Premier League start since Serge Aurier for Tottenham in September 2017, and at 19 years, 39 days old, he’s the youngest to see red in the competition since Jack Wilshire (18 years 288 days) in October 2010.

United scored four in the first half. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, a Jan Bednarek own goal and Edinson Cavani saw the Red Devils take a 4-0 lead at half-time.

9-0 - This is only the third ever a side has won a Premier League game by 9+ goals; 1995 Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich Town 2019 Southampton 0-9 Leicester City 2021 Manchester United 9-0 Southampton.

CRISTIANO RONALDO BREAKS COVID-19 PROTOCOL FOR HIS GIRLFRIEND BIRTHDAY , HE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION???????????

Cristiano Ronaldo broke coronavirus travel restrictions with a trip to a mountain resort, according to media reports Thursday. Juventus striker Ronaldo allegedly travelled to Courmayeur, 150 kilometres north-west of the Serie A club's Turin headquarters, for his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez' birthday. When contacted by AFP, Juve declined to comment. Rodriguez, who turned 27 on Wednesday, apparently posted a video of the couple on a snowmobile on Instagram.

The Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper said Ronaldo and Rodriguez spent Tuesday night in a hotel and took a ride in the snow the next morning, before returning to Turin.

Under current Italian coronavirus rules, the couple should not have left the town of Turin. They each risk a fine of 400 euros ($485).

The 35-year-old footballer has been embroiled in coronavirus-related controversy before.

He was criticised in October for travelling to Portugal while Juventus were in isolation after two virus cases.

Ronaldo then tested positive himself, and returned to Italy to spend a couple of weeks in isolation at home.

At the time, Italian Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora accused the star of "violating" coronavirus restrictions.

Hyderabad FC hold Bengaluru FC for a draw comback from Sanatana 🤙🏐

Aridane Santana and Fran Sandaza scored in the final five minutes of the match to bag his team an unlikely result....

BFC led 2-0 through goals from Sunil Chhetri (9’) and Leon Augustine (61’). However, Aridane Santana pulled a goal back in the 86th minute before Fran Sandaza scored a 90th-minute leveler, as BFC’s winless run extended to eight game.

HFC manager Manuel Marquez Roca: We are very happy tonight. We were losing 0-2 till the 85th minute. Up until that point, we didn't deserve the three points. We gifted Bengaluru the second goal and failed to score from every good chance we got. In the end, we fought well and bagged a point. Both our goals were executed wonderfully. I feel bad for Bengaluru FC. They are on a rough patch. Even after scoring the first goal, they were very nervous on the field because of their winless streak. Coming back to us, we have a young and talented squad. The players have handled the tough situations brilliantly. The late equaliser will be a boost for all of them.

Interim BFC coach Naushad Moosa: It's the same problem again, switching off towards the end. We were two goals ahead till the 85th minute and conceded two so late. I had to make those substitutions. Cleiton (Silva) was complaining about his hamstring. Sunil (Chhetri) was not well yesterday and he didn't train. So I introduced Semboi (Haokip) and Kristian (Opseth). The entire squad is gutted. I appreciate the way my team is playing but it's not enough. There were defensive lapses. You can't have four players in the box and allow the striker to come from behind and score. Leon Augustin did well. I wanted to utilise his pace on the wing and he scored. Parag Srivas is good with the ball but he has to coordinate better with his partner. We have to work harder.

Juventus 4-0 SPAL: Frabotta stunner helps tee up Derby 😎

Juventus will face bitter rivals Inter in the Coppa Italia semifinals after Win over SPAL

Gianluca Frabotta scored his first senior goal as Juventus eased into a Coppa Italia semifinal tie against Inter with a comfortable 4-0 win over second-tier SPAL at Allianz Stadium.

Alvaro Morata scored his first penalty for Juve since February 2016 to put last season's runners up, without the rested Cristiano Ronaldo, ahead in the opening stages

Aaron Ramsey squandered two good chances to add to Juve's lead, though it was an error in the SPAL defence which enabled Dejan Kulusevski and Federico Chiesa to wrap things up.

Frabotta lashed a low effort across the face of goal as Juve hunted an early opener, and it duly came in the 16th minute.

Adrien Rabiot was booked for simulation after he went down under Francesco Vicari's challenge, yet the referee changed his decision after consulting VAR, and Morata sent Etrit Berisha the wrong way from 12 yards.

Morata turned provider eight minutes later, with Kulusevski stinging Berisha's palms, before Ramsey hit the side netting.

Berisha was picking the ball out of his net again a minute later, though – Frabotta thumping in a brilliant first-time strike from the edge of the area.

SPAL veteran Sergio Floccari had an immediate chance to haul one back, but sliced wide of the left-hand upright.
